R.C.I.A.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is an
Evangelization ministry that welcomes and prepares adults to receivethe sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation).
Participants enrolling will begin a year-long faith enrichment process and will receive the sacraments of initiation next year at the Easter time.
Catholics who have received all their sacraments but are interested in learning more about their faith are also invited to attend.
| R.C.I.A. stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
It is an ongoing four-step process within parish life. It is designed to
welcome new members, those who have not yet been baptized and those baptized in
another faith, into the Catholic Church and at the same time help lead every
Catholic parishioner to deeper belief and renewal of his or her Christian
faith. In the process we invite, welcome, explain and teach about the many rich
symbols, sacraments and traditions of the Catholic Church.
Our Christian faith begins at our baptism and sets us on a
journey toward God, which lasts a lifetime. Growing in spiritual insight and
maturity can be both challenging and reassuring. As we grow in our faith, we
sometimes need comforting stories of those who have journeyed successfully
before us. At the same time we look for spiritual support and friendship from
companions along the way. The RCIA process both invites us and helps us feel
welcome in a community where acceptance, security and healing can be felt and
celebrated as nowhere else. We encourage and welcomes anyone interested in
becoming a Catholic to contact the office for times and details of the RCIA
class schedule.
